The President's Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities (PCPID) was founded in 1966 by President Lyndon B. Johnson. It aims to ensure the right of a decent, dignified place in society for people with intellectual disabilities. It promotes policies that support independence and community inclusion, such as independent living facilities. It does not, however, administer grants nor does it provide financial assistance to individuals or organizations.
