Why did Henry not appreciate the company of the "tattered soldier"? What question did he keep asking Henry?

Henry finds the tattered soldier annoying. He finds him "bleating" or whining about Jim. The irony is that the tattered soldier is going on about the same things running internally through Henry's head. The tattered soldier keeps asking Henry where his wounds are.
