    Prohibition or the policy in the 1920s which outlawed alcohol in the United States, led to a major rise in organized crime and therefore A) it led to many people joining organized criminal gangs. There was also a subsequent rise in crime rates in the 1920s. The goal was to revive "traditional American values", however the outcome was quite far from this.
