When the U. S. Supreme Court rules on a constitutional issue, the

state governments whose statutes conflict with the decision must amend their laws

legislative branch can edit the law involved before the court rules it unconstitutional

executive branch can order a review of the case and evidence by the legislative branch

decision is final unless overturned by a constitutional amendment or new court decision
