How did the action of the us military after the my lai massacre affect the american public?

    In my opinion, the My Lai massacre was the most horrible accident during the Vietnam War, as the United States military killed the most part of the population in this area. If my memory serves me well, american public did not like it, because there was no reason for U. S military to do this.
