Evidence has been found to suggest that the Xia dynasty was China's first civilization; however for many years this dynasty, dated as far back as 1760 B. C., was thought to be the oldest.

    It's very debatable because many of the things done by Xia is a thing of legends, even though some archeological evidence about writing and agriculture has been found. There are even older rulers of ancient China who reigned as far back as 2900 B. C., but the stories tell that they were half men half animals and it's very fairy tale like.
