Why were Japanese Americans living on the West Coast interned after the Pearl Harbor attack?

Japanese Americans living on the West Coast were interned after the Pearl Habor attack because the American government were suspicious of them and believed they were spies for the Japanese Americans. They thought they were in full agreement with the Japanese government and were skeptical of their motives in regards to the United States.
