    One of the most apparent things was that men were usually representing the dominant figure in society and were therefore treated better. Women had to wear a lot of clothes and cover their bodies. It was required of every woman to be completely covered, this meaning even the faces.

    In some cases, it was possible that women weren't allowed to see other men. Their brothers, fathers, or another male figure was required to be with them at all times and "protect" them.
