Who made up most of the workforce in a sweatshop?

The group of people that made up most of the workforce were women. They were eager to earn really small amount of money and work long hours, because they did not have another job and also because they were unable to find any better. Sometimes, there were also a lot of immigrants working in sweatshops, because they could not speak English and they could not find a better job.
