Can someone tell me about the Iran-Contra scandal?

The Iran-Contra scandal was a scandal that took place in the 1980s during the Reagan Administration's time in office. During this scandal the U. S. Government was involved in selling arms to Iran to use in the Iran-Iraq war and using the funds from the sales to fund the Contras which was a group of Nicaraguan rebels. This activity was in violation of previous laws passed by Congress and created an enormous problem for the United States and the Reagan Administration because many believed Reagan condoned these activities which would have been a potentially impeachable offense.
