The new Japanese constitution after World War II contained a clause that B) prevented Japan from having or using an army. This was because they were defeated in World War II and the constitution was drafted after the war in 1947 under the Allied Occupation (United States, Great Britain, France, etc ...) to replace Japan's military and absolute monarchy with popular sovereignty that worked with the monarchy.
