Why might Africans have admired European culture, even though it was destroying their own?

Over years of European impressments, Africans slowly to develop a form of admiration to European cultures because they seem to believe that their culture was "higher class". Not to offend anyone but the feeling is like European culture masters everything since they are so developed and advanced
