How did the US convince Colombia to allow them to build the Panama Canal?

    Roosevelt supported a revolt in Columbia and eventually Columbia, in order to stop the revolt gave Roosevelt the right to build the panama canal. At least it was something like that

And he wanted a way for the navy to sail quickly between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Roosevelt decided to build that waterway.
