The united states joined world war 1 because of two major reasons. name those reasons:

2 American cruise liners were sunk by Germany; the Lusitania in 1915, and the Housatonic in 1917 (it turns out though that the US was hiding weapons on board the Lusitania, and was trying to use the civilians on the vessel as a way to stop the Germans from attacking it).
