Why would you support Andrew Jackson for president?

    I would because he was a great president and his effect on America was great. He melded the amorphous coalition of personal followers who had elected him into the country's most durable and successful political party, an electoral machine whose organization and discipline would serve as a model for all others.

    I would support him because as president, Jackson sought to advance the rights of the "common man" against a "corrupt aristocracy", and also endeavored to preserve the Union.
