Do you believe the Bastille was stormed to set prisoners free, because it was a symbol of oppression, or as the first step to overthrow the French monarchy? (Explain)

    Personally, i believe Bastille was stormed to set prisoners free because it was a symbol of oppression

    Back then, Bastille was used as states prison by the French King mainly to imprisoned his political opposition. Setting up its prisoners symbolize that the king is no longer held the highest power.
