Which two ideas contributed to the American Revolution? The British were entitled to all the natural resources found in the colonies. Taxes were oppressive because colonies were not directly represented in Parliament. Colonial assemblies were not necessary because of Parliamentary rule. Colonial assemblies should make rules for the colonies they represent.
