How did general Sherman's march to the sea affect the confederacy during the civil war

    General Sherman's march to sea was a ploy in which Sherman decides to walk to sea and decimate everything in his path. It affected the confederacy by greatly reducing the resources that they had, despite already being desperate. He burned food and land, making things not fertile anymore.
