By definition, a peninsulares is a Spanish-born citizen wherein he/she is residing at Spain's colonies, while on the other hand, a creoles are born and raised in Spain. There has been a rampant discrimination among the peninsulares because of their origin. This would eventually lead to the peninsulares supporting the revolutionaries in their fight for independence.
