    The control of the Atlantic Ocean was essential to Great Britain's success in World War II because C) Britain was an island nation dependent on trading to keep its economy strong. Great Britain because of it's geographical location as an island to the west of Europe had good trading ties, as it needed to keep its economy going through import and export.
