Distrust of a single leader with absolute power can occur because that leader may act like a dictator. They may make the people under their rule do extreme things, such as when Adolf Hitler demanded the killing of all Jews. Additionally, riots and arguing could occur when the people disagree with what the leader is doing. If a fair government is to occur, there must be a division of power and the people must have a say in what happens.
