How did World War I assist the women's suffrage movement in the United States?

    As women weren't drafted into the armed forces and men were, the jobs which men had were given to women. Women played a vital role thus in maintaining the American economy and in producing munitions which won the war. Not only did this mean that they gained respect but this showed that women could match men in terms of labour and so their worth was showcased.
