The longest lasting dynasty in Chinese history is the zhou dynasty. The Zhou dynasty lasted from 1046 CBE until 256 BCE, and was only ended when the city of Chengzhou was taken in 256 BCE. In fact, this particular dynasty is so long that when historians discuss it they usually refer to it in two parts: West Zhou and Eastern Zhou.
