Mungo Park was a Scottish adventurer of West Africa. He was the primary Westerner known to have made a trip to the focal part of the Niger River, this initiated and paved the way for European exploration and misuse of Western Africa. Mungo Park's record of his adventures is still in print. He died in 1806.
