What portion of the interned japanese-americans were u. s. citizens?

Roughly 2/3rds of all interned Japanese-American citizens were interned during World War II. This amount is shocking, as many of these individuals never went to Japan before in their life, yet they were accused of being spies for the Japanese military. Due to this negative stereotype, Japanese-Americans spent anywhere between 1-3 years in these internment camps while the war was going on. Their freedoms were severely limited as they were unable to leave the campsites to return to their homes. After the war was over, many went back to homes and businesses that were destroyed.
