The answer is A. The tidelands controversy between the United States and Texas included the title to 2,440,650 sections of land of submerged land in the Gulf of Mexico between low tide and the state's Gulfward limit three alliances (10.35 miles) from shore. Texas, first procuring this land by building up and keeping up itself as an autonomous country, saved this and in addition all other unsold land when it entered the Union in 1845. Responsibility for property by the province of Texas was perceived by authorities of the United States for over 100 years.
