    The Brown vs. Board of Education case overruled the Plessey vs. Ferguson case. The Plessey vs. Ferguson case (1896) established the idea that "separate but equal" facilities were constitutional. However, after this ruling, many of the facilities created for whites were far superior than the ones created for blacks. This was especially true for schools. All white schools had much nicer classrooms, more teachers, and newer books in comparison to all black schools. This is why the Supreme Court ruled that separation can lead to feelings of inferiority, as all white establishments had much better resources.
