    Sita is the symbol of female purity and virtue in the Indian religion. In the Ramayana, she is portrayed as the avatar of Goddess Lakshmi, Vishnu's consort. She followed her husband into exile and was always faithful to him, loving her family above everyone and everything else. These may be some of the reasons why she is still important to young girls today.
