where did most Chinese and Japanese immigrants settle in the 1890's

    Many of them settled in the west coast. (Washington, Oregon and especially California) Some others (including Koreans and Filipinos) settled in Hawaii. But around that time, there was a ban on imagration which soon also banned Japanese and Korean immigrants because of racial prejudice. Many people thought of asians to be inferior to whites and cheap labor. It wasn't until after WorldWar 2 that ALL the bans were lifted. Americans realized that asians weren't inferior (particularly after the hard won war with the Japanese and the alliance with the Chinese)
