King Felipe VI became King of Spain on June 19, 2014 following the abdication of his father King Juan Carlos. He is now in line with the Spanish Constitution officially the head of state and also the commander of Spanish armed forces. Prior to becoming King he worked to promote philanthropic causes and the relations between other Spanish speaking countries.
