Why did computers not have an impact on everyday life in the 1950s?

Few people were buying luxuries of any kind at the time.

They were too large and expensive for personal use.

Business demand was so high that they were not available for personal use.

Congress approved them for government and military use only.

    Mainly because computers were far too large to even fit inside a room, and they were very expensive
