Which group served as the executive branch of the roman government?

    Answer is: Consuls.

    Consul was the highest elected political office of the Roman Republic. He ruled as chief executives for one year. It was split between two men (consuls) and limited to a one year. It supposed to elapse ten years before serving as consul a second time. Centuriate Assembly annually elected consuls during the Republic.
