    Two of the most outspoken Radical Republicans at that time were Charles Sumner and Thaddeus Stevens. Charles Sumner was a Senator who was a very good orator, he was a leader of the antislavery forces in Massachusetts. What he did on the Reconstruction was fighting to minimize the power of the ex-Confederates and guarantee equal rights to the freedmen. Thaddeus Stevens was a fearsome reformer fighting hard againts slavery and he was a powerful member of the House of representatives
