Why did peasants often support the tyrants? what other groups supported them

Peasants often supported the tyrants because they were told what do to by the aristocrats and this caused them to go into a lot of debt, so when a new leader stepped in they would vote for them to try to get out of their mess. Other people that voted for them were newly rich land owners who were denied by the aristocrats.
