    I would say an absolute chronology is one in which the events were listed according to actual dates even down to the day as well as the exact year when something happened like say the date when Charles Darwin was born as opposed to a relative chronology say in geology where events may not be able to be tied down to an exact date but can be dated perhaps within a few million years.
