Describe three ways the legacy of colonial rule hampered development after independence

The colonial rule extracted natural resources from other colonized countries and gained free labor power for long years. The produced riches were turned to the colonizing countries, not the colony. The colonies did have the chance to fully benefit from their land since the earnings were directed back to colonizers country.
