Which tactic was primarily used by the civil rights movement in the 1950s and 1960s?

There were a few notable tactics. One was sit ins and marches. They would hold non-violent marches in which they would ask for support. Another was boycotts, while the most effective ones were the court trials. They would go to courts and fight against things that were unconstitutional, before they finally won and were given their civil rights.
