Why were there few transportation innovations in the South compared to the North?

    Rivers provided all the transportation needs of the plantation and farm owners.

    Lack of industry, it had not taken hold in the west due to the times being unsettled in that area. just think about it can you imagine big businesses spending lots of money to build factory in the west just to watch them be burnt down by the native Americans
