How did transportation change in the 1800's and what were some effects of improvements in the transportation

    There were more roads being built. For example, The National Road.

    Second, steamboats came into existence. They allowed travel against the stream of rivers.

    The Erie Canal was completed at this time as well. It connected the Great Lakes (and thereby the Mississippi) to the East Coast.
