What was one reason that immigrants came to America in the late eighteen hundreds

Many came to join family that were already in America, others came because there were many oppertunities here.

One good reason was because America, at the time, was at it's golden age. Everything was new, business was prospering, and people were working their way up the ladder. Whereas, in other countries the economies seemed to be getting worse, or there was famine, which prompted many people to sail to America in search of jobs, and a better life for their family.
