How did stonewall jackson earn his nickname?

    He earned his nickname in the battle of first bull run, when general bee told his men "There stands Jackson like a stone wall".

    He earned his nickname at the first battle of Manassas during the American Civil war.

    It is also told that he earned it because during the heat of the war he sat steadily on his horse and another soldier referred to him as "like a stone wall".
