The effect that the passing of war powers act of 1973 have in restricting the president from engaging in military actions requires that: the President must send a note to the Congress within 48 hours that he has send the troops into military action. It is also said in the Resolution that it forbids any military personnel from remaining in a state of conflict in more than 60 days with 30 days of withdrawal. If it exceeds beyond 60 days, then the President must notify the Congress to send for the declaration of war.
