For the United States, wars and revolutions in Europe following their foundation impacted their trade and access to goods. The French Revolution will create a shaky country for about 20 years which interrupted US trade to one of our biggest allies. Napoleon would begin his empire with conquest leading to more disruption of trade and addition, the Napoleonic Wars would eventually spill outward impacting the US's shipping to and from Europe. This will cause the US to engage in the War of 1812 against Britain. This war proves to Americans that their economy can not stand on its own as it is agricultural and has no means to process raw materials. Following the War of 1812, the US will begin industrialization efforts as canals, roads, and eventually railroads would be created with federal government assistance. A banking industry would be created a means to fund infrastructure and create a factory system in the North to support Southern plantations.
