By the revolutionary period, what percentage of white men in the colonies could read and write

In the data obtained by Kevin Lockridge, who used official records to make his book Literacy in Colonial New England, he found these dа ta: about white men in New England, almost 60 percent were literate, from 1650 to 1670, and that number with the years was ignited as the century was over, reaching 100% by the way in major cities like Boston at the turn of the century.
