President Truman decided to use both the atomic bomb on Japan in 1945 because

    He had many reasons but he decided to drop the atomic bomb because he hoped that Japan would surrender. He also wanted to avoid having an invasion by the Japanese because it would be costly, difficult and terrible since the Japanese attacks were so brutal.
