The League of Nations was established after World War I to maintain world peace. Why was the League of Nations unsuccessful in its mission? The start of the Great Depression caused nations to stop supporting it financially. The League of Nations depended on the cooperation of its members and lacked an enforcement mechanism. The United States did not join the League of Nations, and therefore the League of Nations suffered from a lack of American leadership. All of these are correct.
