In 1952, Albert Einstein was offered but declined the presidency of: Israel

Back then, Israel believes that bringing Albert Einstein to the country will accelerate their science and technological development so they can catch with the United States and the Soviet Union.

But Einstein declined this offer because he believed that he does not possess the required abilities to became a politician.
