The purpose of the petition sent to King George the third by the First Continental Congress was to repeal the Coercive Acts. After the ending of the French and Indian Wars, the British started charging the colonies with several types of undue taxes. This resulted in deterioration of relationship between the British and the colonies. The colonial people were of the opinion that since they did not have any representatives in the British parliament, so the Parliament did not have any right to tax them with new laws.
