Civil War Amendments are amendments to the U. S Constitution adopted just 5 years after the U. S Civil War. The amendments are important for the Reconstruction of the formerly Confederate states. The 13th Amendment abolished slavery and involuntary servitude, and it riled White Nationalists to this day. The 14th Amendment strengthened citizenship rights and protections for all persons, men and women. The 15th Amendment prohibits discrimination in voting rights on the basis of race, sex, or history of slavery, and so provided basis for Women’s Suffrage. These Amendments expanded voting and citizenship rights to women and African Americans.
