Why were the outnumbered spanish conquistadors able to so easily defeat the natives of south and central america?

    They had a vastly superior technology such as steel and guns, as well as diseases. The locals got diseases from Europe because they didn't have the immunity built up so they died by the thousands while the conquistadors thrived. It was easy for them to conquer the locals.
